Award Ceremony in the City Hall E-mail

Organized by the Association for Gym Wheel in Taunusstein, the mayor of Taunusstein and the President's of both Gymnastics clubs honored the successes and dedication of coaches, volunteers, last Sunday, February 15th, in the City Hall.

Organized by the Association for Gym Wheel in Taunusstein, the mayor of Taunusstein and the President's of both Gymnastics clubs honored the successes and dedication of coaches, volunteers, last Sunday, February 15th, in the City Hall.

The President of the Association, Monika Glasenhardt, welcomed everybody with a glass of champagne and introduced the major of Taunusstein, Michael Hofnagel, as well as Stadtverordnetenvorsteher Gerhard Wittmeyer. The ceremony was also conducted by the president of the TSV Taunusstein- Bleidenstadt, Gerhard Rüppel, vice president of the TSV Taunusstein- Bleidenstadt, Inge Schwiefer-Rüppel, as well as the president of the SV Neuhof, Dieter Hannes.
Monika emphasized in her speech that the association wants to support the activities of the clubs by providing the necessary equipment, transport, training campy and regular coaching necessary to maintain functional and performance-oriented youth work. In the end, gym wheel as a sport will be promoted world-wide by the boys and girls traveling around the countries with their shows. She especially thanked all the coaches who spend a lot of time and energy in the gym for only a small financial reward and said that without their dedication last years successes would not have been possible. She pointed out the engagement of Katja Homeyer, Nadine Münster, and Christiane Sproß.

The major congratulated all athletes and emphasized the importance of gym wheel for the city of Taunusstein, since the athletes do their part in spreading the name of the city around the world. He said he was proud to have the gym wheel clubs representing the city on national and international events all over the world.

The athletes received vouchers and flowers as presents. The following people were honored:

Julia Pohling (German Champion Spiral 2008, Vice German Champion Straight-line with music, Bronze Medal in the all-around competition)
Sarah Metz (3rd place, Junior Girls 12-15, National Championships)
Stella Bott (4th place, Junior Girls 12-15, National Championships)
Daniel Sternberger2nd place, Junior Boys 15-18, National Championships)
Marivn Homeyer (3rd place, Junior Boys 11-15, National Championships)
Kira Weise (3rd place straight line, 4th place vault, Junior Girls 15-18, National Championships)
Jaqueline Diehl (5th place all-around competition, Junior Girls 15-18, National Championships)
